IGANGA – Business Mogul Abdulrahim Ali Bawazir aka Toto has trounced Peter Mugema Panadol in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries held on Friday. Toto, a former husband to the late Iganga Woman MP Kaudha Hailat Magumba who succumbed to pregnancy-related complications in July 2017, polled 11,911 against Panadol’s 2,761.
Toto’s huge financial muscle and his identification with women and urban riffraffs proved to be too much for Panadol who represented Iganga Municipality in Parliament since 2011.
Panadol has, however, cried foul, saying the process was marred by rigging and voter intimidation. He has revealed to this website that he will run as an independent in next year’s general election.
Others in the race include Juma Ngobi Isimba, Samuel Ibanda, Musa Zirabamuzale and Mukulu Abby who polled 772, 235, 252 and 150 votes respectively.
