ENTEBBE – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Division A chairman Mr Michael Kabwama Mutebi has won the highly contested flag bearer post for the mayor in the 2021 general elections.
Mutebi got 5,427 of the vote to beat his rival businessman Mr Fabrice Rulinda who scored 3,474 of the total vote at the different polling stations spread out in the 24 villages to win the mayor flag bearer post for the ruling party in the primaries that went on peacefully with heavy security deployment in the municipality.
Although the elections were carried out peacefully, there was total disregard for SOP’s after voters failed to space themselves,
Mutebi said his main reason for running for mayor’s office is to uplift the livelihoods of residents in the municipality.
However, Fabrice Rulinda a former Member of Parliament contestant in the 2016 elections who promised to set up income generating projects to boost peoples income and improve access to health care has rejected the results.
“I can not accept such bogus results,” he said.
Currently two people have been confirmed to stand for the mayor post in 2021, Michael Kabwama Mutebi on the NRM ticket and incumbent mayor Mr Kayanja Vincent De Paul on the Democratic Party (DP) ticket.
