IGANGA – Former legislator Milton Muwuma is leading in the race for Kigulu South NRM flag-bearer for the 2021 general election.
Muwuma is leading with 18,564 of the total votes tallied with his closest challenger and incumbent Iganga district chairperson Patrick Kayemba garnering 12,302 votes.
Muwuma represented Kigulu South in Parliament from 2006 to 2016.
In 2015, he was defeated by former Iganga district chairperson Asuman Kyafu in the NRM primaries and decided to back incumbent MP Andrew Kaluuya in the general election.
Kaluuya is a distant third while Moses Mbigiti is trailing in the race.
The Kigulu South voters have today gone to the polls to elect the NRM flag bearer in the 2021 general election. The constituency missed out on the previous poll after one of the aspirants, Stephen Waako, died in an accident on polling day.
