
KAMPALA – The National Unity Platform (NUP) reopened nominations for the party’s flag bearer for the Kampala City mayoral seat after Latif Ssebaggala declared on Tuesday that he had quit the race.
NUP Electoral Management Committee (EMC) Chairperson Mercy Walukamba said the party is set to vet Lord Mayor flag bearers again.
“Interested persons are therefore hereby requested to fill-in and return their expression of interest forms to the party headquarters by Friday 25th September, 2020 at 5:00pm,” Walukamba said.
The interested candidates, according to Walukamba will have to be Ugandans above 18 years of age, with a National ID, UCE and UACE qualifications and registered members of the National Unity Platform.
Ssebaggala had seen off competion from among others, artiste Joseph Mayanja commonly known as Chameleone, in a highly contested battle.
