KAMPALA – The Democratic Party through the Mao 2021 Campaign Committee has called upon the public to help them design the official poster for their 2021Presidential flag bearer Norbert Mao.
This comes after two of the presidential contenders; Yoweri Museveni of the National Resistance Movement and Robert Kyagulanyi of the National Unity Platform released their official campaign posters recently.
Addressing the media yesterday, DP spokesperson Opio Okoler asked the public to help them design an official poster that Mao will use as his campaign poster before 30th October 2020.
“We are calling on the public, especially the youth to participate in the designing of the MAO 2021 presidential poster and we have set the deadline 30th Oct 2020,” he said.
He explained that the party through this campaign believes that they must involve the youth which are the majority of the voters in Uganda at every stage of decision making in the party.
“People should be involved in decision making, and this includes choosing a poster they would like to see because they are a pro-people political party. As we begin this journey, we want to emphasize and call upon the youth below 30 years. You might not necessarily be talented or a professional but as long as you know that you can paint a design, send us an application,” he said
The winners will be selected by a panel of judges and a winner will be announced at a special occasion where the winning entry will be unveiled.
The winning entry will walk away with Ugx 1million, 1st runner up Ugx 500,000 and the 2nd runner up Ugx 300,000
Okoler also explained the delay to hand in Mao’s presidential signatures to the electoral commission.
He shared that it was deliberate and he laughed at opposition members who thought that DP will not front a presidential candidate in forthcoming general election.
He announced that DP will beat the deadline and hand in just in time for their candidate to be nominated by the Electoral Commission.
“What we have actually been doing is building rapport with voters, identifying agents in every village such that if we roll out our campaign strategy definitely we shall know that we have pillars in every village,” he explained.
