BUGWERI – It was all glamour and glitz as flamboyant city lawyer Julius Galisonga is nominated as a candidate for the Bugweri county MP race.
Galisonga who is vying for the Bugweri county MP seat on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flag was nominated today (Friday)
He faces stiff competition from NRM’s Daniel Ibaale and incumbent MP Abdul Katuntu who is standing on the independent ticket.
The flamboyant lawyer painted Bugweri blue as his motorcade snaked through the town enroute to the district headquarters where he was nominated. Standing atop his sleek Mercedes Benz, the renown advocate waved to his overjoyed supporters who were chanting slogans praising him and ridiculing his competitor Katuntu who they accuse of treachery.
“Katuntu had showed us Galisonga as his successor and in him (Galisonga), we saw a man who could propel us to greater heights. We are ready to die for him,” said an overzealous supporter who could not stop dancing.
This website has learnt that MP Katuntu survived lynching a fortnight ago by Bugweri residents who accuse him of ‘not being man enough’.
“He declared in public that he was not coming back and we approached Galisonga who agreed to carry the FDC mantle in the county. He even went to a national television and declared he was not coming back. If he forgot anything in Parliament, Galisonga will deliver it for him,” said Suleiman Ngobi, an FDC supporter in the district.
Galisonga promised to represent Bugweri diligently and deliver where the incumbent Katuntu failed.
