NTUNGAMO – Only two candidates, Benjamin Kamukama Katangura (NRM) and journalist Namanya Santurina Kakyene were nominated to run for newly demarcated Ruhaama East Constituency in Ntungamo district.
Katangura’s expectation to go unopposed never happened after Boona FM’s manager who lost in the previous general election for Ruhama county returned to test his second chance in the new constituency.
Katangura was proposed by Mugabe Well Enjoy and seconded by Bakamuturaki Geresomu as his opponent Kakyene was proposed by Samson Taremwa and seconded by Ndyowawe Leticia as Ndigye Swalikyi signed as his Official agent.
Shortly after being nominated, Kakyene (Independent) told the press that he wants to focus on helping youth and women groups and other categories if given mandate.
Katangura said the people should vote him since he is the one holding the NRM flag saying that he will be sitting in the caucus where the national cake is prepared from.
Meanwhile, the incumbent Ruhaama county MP, Hon. Moses Mugabe Kahima disclosed to support Kakyene saying that after all Katangura rigged his (Kahima) votes during the last NRM primaries.
