MASAKA – Flag bearers for National Unity Platform (NUP) in Masaka City have opted for joint campaigns to bolster their candidature and that of the party flag bearer, Mr Robert Kyagulaya Ssentamu.
While campaigning in Kyabakuza , Kidda and Kitengesa on Monday and Tuesday , Mr Mathias Mpuuga , the NUP vice president in charge of the Central Region ,said sharing the same podium is in line with the party spirit of working together .
“What we want as NUP is leadership at all levels including the presidency. So, we find this arrangement [of campaigning together] very convenient and the voters are receiving our message very well,” Mr Mpuuga, who is vying for Nyendo-Mukungwe parliamentary seat, said
Mr Mpuuga said when President Museveni lost the December 10, 1980 presidential election, he chose to go to the bush, but for them they will go for him and remove him from the State House.
“We call upon all people of Uganda to turn up in bigger numbers and vote Museveni out of office and we also ask you to scoff at all people who are against change,” He said
According to Dr Abed Bwanika, who is the NUP flag bearer for Kimaanya- Kabonera Constituency asked voters to vote for Kyagulanyi if they want an equal share of the national cake.
“Other regions such Northern and Western have had presidents from their respective areas and its high time Uganda embraced a Muganda President,” Dr Bwanika amid ululations from ecstatic supporters
