MOROTO – NRM Presidential flag bearer, Yoweri Tubuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni has on Friday 20 concluded the Karamoja leg of campaign.
One of the highlights of his tour of the Karamoja region was the commissioning of Hotel Africana, a private magnificent hotel that is expected to boost tourism and employment. This hotel is part of the BMK businesses. It has more than 70 rooms and other conference rooms and facilities.
The president started his tour of the region on Wednesday, November 18, with the address of leaders from Moroto, Napak, Nabilatuk, Nakapiripit and Amudat and later addressed the people on radio and TV with a translation in Jie.
On Thursday, November 19, he addressed leaders from Abim, Kabong, Karenga and Kotido and later addressed the people on radio and TV with translation in Pokot.
The President concluded on Friday November 20, 2020, with a meeting of the youths and an address of the people on radio and TV with a translation in Labwor, the Luo speaking dialect of Akarimojong.
In all his addresses, Museveni emphasized the preaching of politics of unity that has characterised the NRM administration over the 34 year tenure of the affairs of Uganda. He reminded the people why the previous regimes had failed to govern Uganda because of the sectarian politics of identity as opposed to needs of the people.
Museveni informed the people that the steady progress that Uganda had attained over the years is a direct consequence of the accumulated peace and correct policies. The prevalent peace has attracted investors who have helped Uganda to overcome the problems of shortage of supplies, unemployment and little tax revenue.
He reminisced that in 1986, Uganda could only collect 5BN in taxes, yet now we collect over 21,000BN! This revenue has enabled Uganda to build good roads, like the Soroti Moroto Rd and the proposed Moroto, Kotido to Kidepo rd about to commence. It has also enabled the expansion of electricity and other infrastructural projects like water dams, classroom construction and health centers.
On Saturday 21, the presidential candidate will commence his campaign trail in Eastern Uganda, starting with Teso region.
