
KAMPALA – The Rt. Rev. Melchizedek Otim, the first Bishop Lango Diocese has died.
According to family sources, Bishop Emeritus Otim, 85, passed on around 3am on Wednesday morning from the Uganda Heart Institute.
Anne Alum Ogwal, the deceased daughter confirmed this saying he has been battling a long illness.
Born in 1934, Rt. Rev. Otim was appointed the pioneer Bishop of Lango Diocese in 1976 by the late Archbishop of Church of Uganda, Janan Luwum.
He served as the Bishop of Lango Diocese until 2000 when he retired.
Rt. Rev. Melchizedek is survived by eight children and one wife, Joyce Otim.
