FOOTBALL–Proline FC cruised to an emphatic victory as they dispatched hapless Mbarara City 3-0 to record their second successive victory of the season.
The Mbarara-based side exuded fatigue after arriving just three hours to kick-off and fall behind to early Fahad Bayo goal inside the first five minutes.
The gangly forward read and rose highest above his markers to direct a powerful header past tried and tested goalie Ali Kimera courtesy of an inviting cross from pacy winger Sula Matovu. It was Fahad Bayo’s second goal of the season.
And the visitors did not relent after taking an early lead. Sula Matovu, who was a constant menace on the flanks all evening, on the interim, swapped his crossing boots for scoring roles when he scored his sided’s second goal to virtually make safety of the three points going into half time break.
Mbarara City coach Viali Bainomugisha was staring down the barrel of a humiliation and elected to be cautious introducing Samuel Arinaitwe for Swalihi Babe and Bassey Methodius for Solomon Okwalinga in the 58th and 60th minutes respectively.
But Joseph mandela hit the last nail in Mbarara City’s well vanished coffin with another headed goal as Fahad Bayo turned provider in a slick team move to inflict the Mbarara based side to their second defeat in a row of the season.
Mbarara City Coach Viali Bainomugisha blamed the combination of fatigue and his players being alien to the artificial turf. “ We were abit unluncky to concede a very early goal but the boys were fatigued due to late travels.
The playing surface was alien to most players, we didn’t get ample time for them to practice on it and we hope next time they won’t be affected by the same.”
Victory took Proline’s tally to 7 points while Mbarara City drops to12 th on a 16-team log.
