CECAFA U17 challenge cup
14th-29th April 2018
Bujumbura, Burundi
The CECAFA U17 challenge cup has been postponed from the start of next month to April 15.
Initially, the underage tournament was slated to start on April 1 and end on April 15 but it has been confirmed that it will take place between 14th and 29th of the same month.
The CECAFA secretariat made the communication on Thursday afternoon while also confirming that three venues, Ngozi, Muyinga and Gitega will be used for the tournament.
This all comes as the Uganda U17 national team, the Cubs intensify training day by day with build up games.
The latest came today in a 12-0 hammering of Football for Good, an academy based in Gulu.
This was the third build up game that the Cubs have played after winning 5-0 against Agape and 3-2 vs Kirinya Jinja SS junior team.
Speaking after learning that the dates have been altered, head coach Peter Onen stressed that they will be ready regardless of the fact that the dates have changes.
“It is upon us to be ready by the time the games start, Said Onen.
“Yes we had prepared for this weekend but we have nothing to do about it.
“We will continue preparing until the kick of the first ball.
The Cubs have been in residential training for close to a week now.
