KCCA FC vs Mbarara City
StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo
Tuesday 03-04-2018 @04:00pm
Two-time league defending champions KCCA FC hope that they can grab all three points when they host Mbarara City at the StarTimes stadium in Lugogo on Tuesday afternoon in order to keep check of leaders SC Villa.
The Kasasiro Boys seat second on the log, four points behind the leaders, who have played two more games than the Lugogo-based side.
KCCA go into the game on the back of a 1-0 away win at Kirinya JSS while Mbarara City could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to URA in their last league outing.
KCCA will be welcoming back the trio of Allan Okello, Julius Poloto and Mustapha Kizza who missed the last game against Kirinya as they were away on national duty with the U20 team.
The team is still expected to be without midfielders Ibrahim Saddam Juma and Jackson Nunda plus defender Paul Musamali who are all yet to recover fully from their respective injuries.
What the coaches are saying:
Mike Mutebi, KCCA FC

“The team is in good shape going into the game against Mbarara City and it gives us a lot confidence knowing we won a difficult game away from home in our last outing.
“We are playing a difficult side in Mbarara and I predict they are going to give us a lot of problems.
“When people look at their league position and may be their personnel, they think it will be a walk in the park but the performance on the pitch at times tells a different story especially in such games and we will surely not be taking them lightly.
“They are a side that is close to the relegation zone and they will be playing for their lives throughout the remaining games including the one against us.
“We are also trying to defend the league and we will go all out and try to get maximum points and i think we have enough in us to do exactly that.
Sam Kawalya, Mbarara City

“We are not in the best of situations at the moment as we are only a few points away from the relegation zone so we need to start getting vital points to avoid the worst come the end of the season.
“We are playing the best team in the country but that will not deter us from trying to get maximum points.
“Lugogo is one of the hardest places to go to and i know it will be so hard to get anything from there but we will still try.
The stats that you need to know.
KCCA FC and Mbarara City will be facing off for only the second time in over ten years.
The first meeting between the two sides this season at the Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara ended goalless.
KCCA have not tested defeat in any of their last nine games in all competitions, winning seven(including the penalty shootout victory over Soana in the Uganda cup) and drawing the other two.
In the Azam Uganda premier league, the Lugogo-based side has lost only two of their last 25 games(2-1 at both Proline and SC Villa), winning 17 and drawing the other six.
KCCA has failed to get all three points at home in a league game on only two occasions this season, drawing 0-0 against Maroons and Bright Stars. That means they have won all the other eight games at home.
Mbarara City has not won any of their last five games in all competitions(D1 L4).
In the league, Sam Kawalya’s charges have registered only one victory in their last 10 outings. The win dates back to the 22nd of December in a 1-0 home win against Masavu. In that period, Mbarara has drawn six and lost three games.
Mbarara are still without a win on their travels this season, drawing six and losing five of their 11 games away from home.
