
Copa coca-cola defending champions, Jinja SS progressed to the semi-final stage of this year’s edition being played in Mbarara.
The Jinja district power house overcame Lira Town College 2-0 in one of the quarter-final matches played on Thursday afternoon.
Kirinya JSS midfielder Vincent Zziwa and defender Ibrahim Ssejjabi where on target for Jinja S.S.
In the other game involving one of the favorites, Buddo S.S damped out Kigezi High School using the same score line (2-0).
Towering center forward Frank Ssebufu and Emmanuel Loki scored the goals for the Wakiso based school.
Ssebufu’s goal was his 11th at this year’s championships in as many matches while schoolmate, Loki scored his 10th so far.
Elsewhere, Blessed Sacrament Kimanya required a tense 3-1 post match penalty victory against St Julian, Gayaza to book their last four.
Normal time of this match had ended goal-less as either side failed to find the back of the net.
Kimanya coached by Brian Ssenyondo had striker William Sseguya to thank after his heroics in the tense penalty shootout.
Sseguya turned into a goalkeeper and saved three kicks from the spot to help the Masaka based side win the contest 4-1.
In the other quarter final, Agape S.S from Namutumba edged Mbarara’s Welden High School 1-0.
After the matches, there was a semi-final draw conducted at Mbarara High School main hall.
Jinja S.S will face Blessed Sacrament Kimanya in the early kick off at 2 pm and Buddo S.S will then take on Agape S.S later at 4 pm.
