Kabwohe Play Ground, Sheema
Saturday, 23-06-2018
Uganda Christian University Lady Cardinals won the 2018 FUFA Women’s cup on Saturday, their first ever major title.
The University side defeated She Corporates in the final played at the Kabwohe Play Grounds in Sheema district.
Two goals in the second half by Mercy Nabulobi and star player Hassifah Nassuna were all the Mukono based side required on the night to inflict the desired damage onto their opposition.
After a first half that saw limited goal mouth action ended scoreless, everyone in Sheema was hoping the second would be a while lot different.
Seven minutes after the break, Maercy Nabulobi lit up the place.
Following a foul on a UCU player inside the She Corporate half, she lined up a free-kick and struck it past Fatumah Matovu to make it 1-0 to the Lady Cardinals.
With just over seven minutes of the game to play, former Women footballer of the year, Hassifah Nassuna also joined in on the party.

She neatly placed Jackie Nakasi’s pull back from outside the 18 yards’ box into the back of the net to make it 2-0 and put the game out of She Corporate’s reach.
She Corporate came close late on but Alice Kalimba and Dorothy Nakato did not carry their scoring boots on the evening.
Who scooped what!
UCU Lady Cardinals’ captain Maureen Kinavudori, a Kenyan born national was named the Most Valuable Player in the tournament.
Uganda Crested Cranes first choice goalkeeper Ruth Aturo, another UCU player deservedly took the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Bugiri Town View striker Sharuwa Nakayima finished as the top scorer on four goals.
