Abraham Ndugwa has completed a move to join reigning Uganda Premier league champions Vipers SC just less than two months after leaving relegated side Masavu FC.
The young and promising forward on Thursday signed a three year deal that will see him at the Venoms until the close of the 2020/21 season.
Ndugwa has been courted by several East African clubs since his departure from Masavu in May, one being Kenyan giants AFC Leopards.
He was believed to be in advanced talks with the Kenyan side but the deal fell through due to playing time issues.
“It was an easy choice for me, said Ndugwa in an exclusive interview with PML Daily.
“Vipers are the best team in the country as evident by the fact that they won last season’s league title.
On the Leopard’s deal that fell through, the striker who scored six goals in the league last season’ had this to say;
“I was on the verge of joining Leopards but the Kenyan league is already into the second round which would affect me personally in terms of not playing yet the National team resumes competitive duty in September and i want to be part of the set-up.
Ndugwa becomes the eight signing for the Venoms this off season.
He joins Rahmat Ssenfuka, Bashir Sekagya, Joseph Janjali, Ibrahim Kiyemba, Fred Okot, Livingston Mulondo and striker Dickens Okwir as the new players at Kitende so far.
With a host of stars highly anticipated to be on their way out of the St. Mary’s stadium, it would come as no surprise if the Venoms sign one or two more players.
Ismail Watenga, Shafick Bakaki, Halid Lwaliwa, James Alitho, Erisa Ssekisambu and Moses Waiswa are all expected to leave this summer.
The Venoms are currently in Tanzania where they are taking part in the 2018 CECAFA Kagame cup and on Wednesday, progressed onto the quarter finals thanks to a 3-0 win over South Sudanese side Katar FC.
Ndugwa is expected to stay in Uganda as he works on his fitness ahead of the 2018/19 Uganda Premier League season rather than join his new side in Tanzania.
