
Elegant former Police FC midfielder Abubakar Ali aka Gift Ali has joined Uganda cup holders KCCA FC.
This was confirmed by KCCA FC on their official social media platforms through a video posted on Monday evening with the inscription:
“Ladies and gentlemen: we have an announcement to make…Welcome Gift Ali to KCCA FC”
Gift Ali has been playing at Proline in the second half of the season after a move to Kenyan side Tusker FC fell through due to religion issues.
Before joining Proline, he started last season at Police where along with Hood Kawesa, elevated the Cops to as high as second on the log before their departures mid-way the season.
At KCCA, he pens a two year deal that sees him join Oscar Agaba from Synergy, defender Bernard Muwanga (from Sports Club Villa Jogoo), Sulaiman Mutyaba and Congolese Trevor Kanyinda as the new signings at Lugogo this off season.
The addition of Ali to a midfielder that already consists arguably the best in the country only highlights KCCA’s ambition this up-coming season.
Mike Mutebi’s charges finished second to Vipers in the 2017/18 season whilst winning the Uganda cup for a sedcond consecutive season.
They are currently in the group stages of the CAF Champions league.
Meanwhile, Uganda Cranes’ left back Alex Kakuba has completed his transfer from Portuguese club, CD Feirense to Greek top flight side PAS Giannina.
Kakuba had stayed in Portugal for close to six years since transferring from Ugandan club Proline.

At PAS Giannina, a club found in Ioannina city and hosts their home games at Zosimades stadium, he put pen to paper on a 2 year deal and he will don shirt 15.
“It is a challenge for me to compete in a different championship than Portugal and I am looking forward to playing with PAS Giannina, said Kakuba after he was unveiled at PAS Giannina.
“I hope to stand up to the trust of the President of Team, our Coach and the Football Director, whom I thank for the opportunity they give me.
Kakuba has previously played at Esperança Lagos, Sporting Covilha, Estoril Praia and lately CD Feirense.
He is one of the products from the famous Airtel Masaza Tournament championship having played for Mawogola Ssaza team alongside goalkeeper Robert Odongkara, left winger Robert Omunuk, defender Ivan Bukenya and winger Sula “Malouda” Matovu.
