
CECAFA U-20 Championships 2018

The CECAFA U-20 championships 2018 will be hosted in Uganda.
This has come after a decision made by the regional sports body and its executive committee members.
The tournament is one of the FIFA Forward programs that CECAFA is benefiting from following the successful completion of the U-17 tournament hosted by Burundi in May.
Nicholas Musonye the Secretary General of CECAFA has confirmed the development via a press conference held in Tanzania during the on-going CECAFA Kagame Cup clubs’ championships.
He also clarified that the women Challenge cup along with the beach soccer events will also take place later this year.
“As CECAFA, we have got a revised calendar to help cater for regional tournaments, said Musonyi.
“We will have the Under 20 and CECACA beach soccer tournaments held in Uganda in September and August respectively.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is yet to come out categorically and address the public on the matter.
Star Times Stadium and the Mandela National Stadium are the expected playing fields to be used in the tournament.
Meanwhile, the 2018 CECAFA Beach soccer championships where to take place between May and June but were held back by the delay in construction of the FUFA Beach soccer facility in Entebbe.
Kenya is going to host the 2018 CECAFA Senior challenge cup for the second time following the 2017 edition and it will start in November this year.
