-Pemba Warriors vs KIU Titans @08:00pm
LUGOGO – The Pemba Warriors will take on KIU Rangers in the FUBA National Basketball league on Friday evening at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.
Ronnie Mutebi’s charges will be hoping to end a run of four consecutive games without a win against the Kansanga based University side.
Warriors lost the first meeting between the two sides 76-47 and if you add the playoff semifinals which they lost 3-1 in the best of five series; that is a single win in their last five encounters with KIU.
What the coaches are saying ahead of the game:
Ronnie Mutebi, Pemba Warriors.
“It is one game we have been looking forward, said Mutebi.”We performed poorly in the first encounter against them so we hope to come and make amends.
“We feel we have to use such encounters to gauge ourselves and our preparations for the championship run this season.
Brian Wathum, KIU Titans.
“We are confident enough we can win this second round fixture, says Wathum.
“We have been practicing hard and preparing for them but keep in mind that we played a depleted Warriors team in the first round.
“It’s going to be different ball game but am hoping to get the win and stay in touch with the top 2 teams.
Warriors go into the game looking for a 10th victory of the season and will be confident they can attain it bearing the good run of form recently. Mutebi’s has won all of their last three games including a 109-54 victory over UPDF Tomahawks in their last fixture.
The Titans too are in good form, winning all their last three games including an 80-69 win over Sharing Youth in their last game.
In the ladies league, KIU Rangers will play host to visiting JKL Lady Dolphins in the first game at the Indoor Arena.
KIU lost the first round of this tie 48-35 and the side will hope that it’s a good time to face JKL who will be without Rita Imanishimwe and Jamila Nansikombi who are travelling to Madagascar.
KIU Rangers have won 7 and lost 7 games this seasons so far. JKL on the other hand have won nine of their ten league games with the only loss coming against KCCA Leopards.
