Uganda Cranes tour of the Eastern Region came to a premature end as their game with Eastern Region select was abandoned before it ended.
Sebastian Desabre’s men were leading 1-0 inside the first five minutes of the second half before the referee Robert Makwala abandoned the game due to heavy down pour.
The Bugiri fans who had spent a while waiting to watch the match between their side and the national team were left disappointed by what mother nature braced them with.
Uganda Premier League winning midfielder, Moses Waiswa had put thee Cranes 1-0 in the first half but the game did not finish as Mukwala deemed the conditions in favourable to play in with 49 minutes on the clock.
The fans who had at first braved the heavy drizzle had also abandoned the pitch side taking shelter in the nearby structures.
After almost a 30 minute halt the fans gathered around the Cranes bus to catch a glimpse of their stars after the referee had re-inspected the pitch and later called off the match.
Uganda Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre was however left a contented man for his team’s first half display reserving that his strikers could have scored more from the chances created.
The Uganda Cranes Regional Tour is a campaign sponsored by Airtel and Nile Special to mobilise nation wide support for the team by taking the stars to their adoring fans.
Uganda Cranes have a match coming up on the 8th of September against Tanzania-2019 Total AFCON Qualifier at Namboole stadium and the tour games are also used as preparations for competitive fixtures.
This was the second Regional Tour after the Cranes drew 2-2 with Bukedia under a month ago.
