SC Villa scrapped to a 1-0 victory over Premier League new comers, Ndejje University in a pre-season friendly played in Luwero on Friday eveining.
New signing Pius Wangi scored the only goal of the game after coming on as a second half substitute.
Wangi is among the several players from reigning league champions-Vipers SC who have sought for greener pasture at Villa.
The others are Bashir Mutanda and Ashraf Mandela. It is also believed that goalkeeper Ismail Watenga will soon become a Jogoo after agreeing terms to join the 16 time record league champions.
Joseph Ssemujju who was loaned to Express from Vipers and former St Mary’s Kitende left back Robert Kitabalwa are the others with Vipers’s origins who played for the Jogoos in Friday’s game.
Experienced Mike Sserumaga, who had replaced Manko Kaweesa in the second half missed a chance to double Villa’s lead at the death with a missed penalty.
Ndejje had also missed a penalty of their own earlier in the game.
Villa tested out other new players as Moses Kiggundu (from relegated Masavu), Hussein Zinda, Edgar Luzige, Ssemujju, Ibrahim Mugulusi, Bobosi Byaruhanga, Ajab Abdurhman, Kaweesa, Mandela, Lincon Mukisa and Mutanda, were all in action.
This friendly match was yet again another platform for Moses Basena to test out the team ahead of the new season.
This off season, the Jogoos have also played against other top flight opposition including URA FC and Onduparaka (both in the Pilsner Super 8) as the technical team takes a critical eye at the players.
