2019 AFCON Qualifiers-Group L
Uganda vs Lesotho
Mandela National Stadium, Namboole
Saturday, 13-10-2018
ENTEBBE – With just over a day to their 2019 AFCON qualifier away to Uganda, Lesotho head coach Moses Maliehe has come out and suggested that his side is not here to play around but rather fight for all three points.
This was after Maliehe and his side touched down at Entebbe International Airport on Thursday afternoon.
“We know how Uganda plays and have respect for them because they are top of the group at the moment, Said Maliehe.
“However, we are on a mission that we hopefully shall accomplish.
“We shall give a spirited fight in the two legs starting with this Saturday game.
Maliehe, a former U20 Lesotho National team who was promoted to the senior team to replace Seephephe “Mochini” Matete last year, also stated that his side has had good preparations building up to the game so they have no worries.
“We have been training well and had a practice game in South Africa against Free State Stars, continued Maliehe.
“The results from the practice match matter less because we played 30-30 minutes and that club had all their players.
“We used a handful of them. This will be a different game plan altogether.
In the friendly game against Free State Stars, the Crocodiles lost 9-0.
About Namboole being natural grass yet most of the stadiums in Lesotho are artificial, the 47 year old had this to say.
“Yes, I know the difference in the playing surfaces.
“There is a very big difference but in Lesotho, we do not only have artificial grass but there are some fields which are natural and we have practiced on them too.
Lesotho jetted into the country with a 26 man delegation and checked into Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala city.
They will undertake their last training in Namboole on Friday afternoon.
The Crocodiles are second on the log in Group L with two points from as many games, their opponents-Uganda lead the way with on four.
