MENGO – Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre has summoned a squad of 30 players for the upcoming Group L 2019 AFCON qualifier against Cape Verde.
The match that will be played on the 17th of next month in Namboole will be Uganda’s fifth in Group L as they attempt to make it to the AFCON finals in Cameroon.
Despite being suspended for the clash, Tanzanian based, Emmanuel Okwi is part of the team that will also take on West African giants-Nigeria in an international friendly three day after the Cape Verde game.

Okwi wa shown his second booking of the competition late on in the victory over Lesotho in Maseru.
Last season’s Uganda Premier League top scorer, Daniel Sserunkuma who has been out of the team for a while now has been included after starting the current campaign with three goals.
After a while on many media personalities’ lips, Onduparaka’s explosive forward-Vianne Ssekajugo has also made the list along with SC Villa Captain Ambrose Kirya and Vipers’ left-back Yayo Lutimba.
The squad has 14 local and 16 foreign based players who will start non residential training on the 9th of November.
According to FUFA Communications Manager, Ahmed Hussein, the foreign based players summoned will join camp as per FIFA stipulated international break rules.
The Uganda Cranes currently top Group L with 10 points from four games having defeated Lesotho twice, Cape Verde away from home and a goalless draw with Tanzania.
Uganda needs just a point from their remaining two Group fixtures to return to the AFCOn finals for the second edition rolling.
