The Mighty Arena, Ninja
Tuesday, 30-10-2018
JINJA – Vipers will hope to maintain their 100% winning start to the league when they travel east to face Kirinya JSS on Tuesday afternoon.
The Venoms have been in splendid form since day one, winning all of their first four league outings and currently sit atop the log with a perfect 12 points out of a possible 12.
Javier Martinez’s charges have so far take care of Ndejje University, Maroons, Nyamityobora and SC Villa, scoring a league high seven goals whilst conceding just two.
However, they face a potential ‘banana skin’ when they visit a Kirinya JSS side that has always caused them issues away from home.
The Venoms are still winless in their previous two fixtures away to the Students including a 1-1 in their title winning season last.
Kirinya will themselves be confident going into the game after losing only one of their first three games.
In their first two home games, Kirinya have drawn 2-2 with SC Villa and also lost 3-0 to Onduparaka in their last outing.
What they are saying going into the game:
Charles Ayieko, Kirinya head coach:
“Its a big test for us coz we lost our last game in bad fashion at home and they are on a 100% winning start.
“Yes the fixture list has not be easy for us but at the end of the day, there is no easy team in the league and we have to play them all.
“All I can assure everyone is that what happened against Onduparaka can’t happen again coz we have corrected all our mistakes.
“It was a shock to us but we must learn from it.
Geoffrey Wasswa Vipers Vice Captain:
“We shall miss Taddeo Lwanga tomorrow but am confident I will command the boys to get the three points.
“We need this game because every game counts and every point takes you to a new step.
“Am sure we can pick a positive result.
Viper will be without Captain Tadeo Lwanga who was sent off in their last game against SC Villa. Aggrey Madoi returns after shaking off an injury but is expected to start on the back as Yayo Lutimba retains his starting role.
Match Stats:
This will be the fifth top flight meeting between the two sides.
Vipers have won two of the first fixtures with the Students, drawing one and losing the other.
Kirinya go into the game unbeaten at home to Viper at home winning one and drawing the other of their two meetings.
Last season Vipers took four points off Ayieko’s side including a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.
Kirinya heads into the game in fairly good form having lost only one of their last seven games (W2 D4).
The Students have also been impressive at home lately, losing only three of their last 13 home league fixtures (W5 D5).
However, they face a daunting task against a Vipers side that has not lost any of their last 21 league games (W18 D3).
Away from home, the Venoms have not tested defeat in any of their last 10 league games (W7 D3).
