LUGOGO – KCCA FCwill be hoping to go top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League when they host Mbarara City at Lugogo on Wednesday afternoon.
After leaders Vipers drew 2-2 at Kirinya on Tuesday, a win for the Kasasiro Boys will take them top of the summit on difference with the two sides (KCCA and Vipers) locked on 13 points.
Mike Mutebi’s side who are still unbeaten head into the fixture on the back of a 2-0 routine win over Bright Stars but their manager has emphasized they will not take Mbarara lightly.
“We know we are favourites but we are not taking them (Mbarara City) for granted, said Mutebi is the pre-match press briefing on Tuesday.
“We know that we failed to beat them last season and it was one of the fixtures that cost us the trophy.
“It will not be an easy game because they are a good side with one of our former player in their ranks but am confident my boys will get the job done.
The KCCA FC former player in the picture is a one Paul Mucurezi who won two league titles and a Uganda Cup in his three seasons at Lugogo.

Mucurezi departed KCCA in the summer after both parties failed to agree on a contract renewal and he will be keen to make instant impact on his immediate return to the side that brought him to stardom.
However, it will not be a walk in the pack coming up against the joint best defence in the division as KCCA have conceded only one goal so far (level with URA FC).
The Kasasiro Boys will be without the injured duo of Muzamir Mutyaba and Gift Ali who are still nursing injuries. However, Bernard Muwanga, Saddam Juma, Musa Esenu and Julius Poloto have all been passed fit to play after overcoming their respective injuries.
For Mucurezi’s Mbarara, they head into the game seventh on the log with six points from their first four games.
The Ankole Lions who are managed by another ex-Kasasiro Boy-Livingston Mbabazi are in a buoyant mood after losing 2-1 in their last game away to sworn enemy, Nyamityobora.
Match Stats:
This will be the third meeting between these two sides ever since Mbarara made their latest return to the top flight in 2017.
Since then, there has not been a victory for either side in those two fixtures, both ending in stalemates.
The reverse fixture last season ended 1-1.
KCCA head into the fixture unbeaten in their last nine league games (W7 D2). The last time Mike Mutebi’s side tasted defeat was in the 3-2 loss away to Vipers on 27th of April.
At home, KCCA have been formidable, not losing any of their last 21 league games (W17 D1).
For Mbarara, they have won three and lost as many in their last six league games.
However, they are the only side that did not win a game away from home last season and have also gone on to lose both of their first two fixtures on the road in the current campaign.
