
KAMPALA – Uganda jumped four places in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Rankings revealed on Thursday, 25-10-2018.
The East African nation which was 83rd last month have now moved to the 79th position with 1306 points after two back to back wins in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.
It is worth noting that Uganda defeated Lesotho 3-0 and 2-0 in their doubleheader two weeks ago to remain top of Group L of the qualifiers with 10 points, five ahead of second-placed Tanzania.
Uganda remains the highest-ranked nation in the CECAFA region. Kenya are second in the 105th place, Tanzania is now 136th, Rwanda 138th while Burundi moved 6 places to sit 142nd.
Apart from Tanzania, the other Group L occupants Lesotho and Cape Verde are 149th and 68th respectively.
The African rankings are topped by Tunisia with 1503 points with Senegal and Nigeria following in second and third respectively.
On the continent, Uganda is now ranked 17th.
Uganda will return to action on the 17th of November when they host Cape Verde at Namboole in their second last AFCON Group L qualifier.
