Uganda’s senior Men national 3*3 basketball team got off to a mixed start at the ongoing FIBA 3*3 Africa cup in Lome, Togo.
The Silverbacks edged Cape Verde before going down to defending Champions Nigeria and in the process, finish second in Pool C.
The results means that Uganda will face Mali in the Quarter finals on Sunday.
In both games on Friday, City Oliers’ Tonny Drilleba managed collected 9 points with James Okello and Mark Opiyo scoring 4 each while Athieu Madol made a team low-2.
Quarter final opponents Mali beat up on Benin and Egypt 15-6 and 14-13 respectively to finish top of their pool.
The Women side (Gazelles) who are ranked number one in Africa, will be in action on Saturday against Cape Verde and Ghana.
The Gazelles will start their adventure against Cape Verde before facing Ghana later in the day.
Opponents Cape Verde and Ghana are ranked 11 and 9 in Africa, Uganda beat up on the latter 21-8 in last year’s event in Togo.
The team will be led by JKL Lady Dolphins’ Jamila Nansikombi who was the Topscorer last season. Rita Imanishimwe (JKL), Sarah Ageno (UCU) and Hope Akello (JKL) complete Uganda’s quartet in Togo.
The above, is a same team that represented Uganda in the first edition beside Akello who replaced Namuwaya Muhayimuna.
