ACCRA – Africa’s Football governing body (CAF) has confirmed that Uganda will host the 2020 AFCON Beach Soccer Championship.
The proceedings were announced during CAF Executive Committee meeting in Accra, Ghana on Friday.
FUFA President who also heads the Futsal and Beach Soccer committees was also in attendance.
The latest developments mean that the Uganda National Beach soccer team-Sand Cranes will qualify automatically as hosts.
This follows a fruitless qualifying campaign in which they were eliminated from qualifying for the 2018 edition in Egypt by Ivory Coast a few months ago.
FUFA 1st Vice President Justus claims that Uganda has started reaping the fruits of developing beach soccer.
“Our efforts in developing the game in Uganda are reaping fruits, said Mugisha after confirmation of the news.
“It has been a great journey for beach soccer in this country.
“We have led on all fronts in the region in developing the game.
“We thank CAF for giving us this opportunity and i promise we shall not disappoint.
The 2020 AFCON Beach Soccer finals will be the 4th edition of the showpiece.
