KITENDE – Nigerian officials have been handed the task to officiate the CAF Confederations Cup play-off round first leg between Vipers SC and Tunisian giants CS Sfaxien.
This was announced by the Confederations of African Football (CAF), barely a week to the game in Kitende.
In the game that will be played on the 12th of this m
onth, Salisu Basheer will be the center referee assisted by country-mates Isah Usman and Peter Ogwu.
This will be the first official game for new Vipers head coach Nam Ouma. In his trial game, Vipers won 6-0 against Allan Kabonge’s Econ Soccer Academy.
The return leg for Vipers will take place in Tunis after a week.
Vipers dropped into the Confederations Cup following their 3-0 aggregate loss to CS Constantine in the Champions League first round.
For Sfaxien, they defeated Zambia’s Green Buffalos 4-2 in the previous round of the competition.
The winner on aggregate over the two legs will qualify to the treasured CAF Confederation Cup group stages.
