Proline 3-0 Kireka United
StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo

LUGOGO – Proline returned to the top of the FUFA Big League-Rwenzori Group thanks to a comprehensive 3-0 win over Kireka at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.
In one of the two games played on Thursday, Shafick Bisaso’s charges dominated proceedings from the word go en-route to a 9th victory of the season.
Goals by Isma Kabugu, Samuel Othieno (og) and Hakim Kiwanuka did the damage for the Lugogo based side who are on course of an immediate return to the top flight after suffering relegation last season.
After a barren first 45 minutes, former Nairobi City Stars’ striker Kabugu put Proline 1-0 up within four minutes of the second (half).
With Kireka gaining momentum, they had themselves to blame for kissing the contest goodbye as defender Othieno put through his own net to hand the home side a healthy 2-0 lead.
In additional time, Kiwanuka added a third to ensure the game ends 3-0 in favour of Bisaso’s side.
The win for Proline takes them back atop the standings in the Rwenzori Group with 29 points from 13 games. They are now two points clear of second placed Kansai Plascon who defeated Bumate United 2-0 on Thursday.
For Kireka, they remain in the dog fight to fend off relegation with 13 points from as many games.
In the other day’s game played at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Kira United overcame visiting Kitara 1-0.
Michael Ssenyonjo’s fifth minute goal was all that Kira required to take all three points.
This was the second loss for tactician Richard Makumbi under his tenure at Kitara following last week’s 1-0 loss to Kyetume in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Kira United now moves to eight points from 13 matches, good enough to displace Ntinda United from the 9th position. For Kitara, they remain 5th on 21 points.
Meanwhile, the FUFA Big League returns on Sunday with one game as League debutants Nebbie Central play host to Light S.S at the Luo stadium in Nebbi district.
