
NAGURU – Days after the close of the January transfer window, Police FC have unveiled five new additions to their squad.
Key among the new players that were shown to the Media at the club’s head quarters in Naguru was former Proline and Kaizer Chiefs defender Ivan Bukenya.
Bukenya joins the Cops from Swedish third tier side, Linkoping FC for whom he has been playing since early last year. He is expected to feature for the Cops until the end of the season.
At the unveiling, Police FC chairperson Asan Kasingye told the media that the club’s aim it to compete for the league title.
“The purpose of this recruitment is to improve the team’s performance as we should be competing for the title not just to participate as we have been in the league for the last three decades, said Kasingye.
“However, we are hoping to improve on our staff, improve on our playground and work on players’ remuneration as we expect the players to deliver.
The other new players include defender Edgar Sharp Bwogi who last season featured at Express FC, Kasozi Kennedy from Vipers (loan), Alfred Oginyera and Kiryowa Gerard who both join from Farmers FC in the regional league.
Kiryowa and Bwogi signed one year deals, each while goalkeeper Oginyera put pen to paper on a two year contract and will deputise Davis Mutebi who has featured in all of Police’s first 16 games this season.
Police are set to take on Express FC today (Monday) at Wankulukuku in their 17th League game of the season.
They are currently 10th in the League standings with 21 points so far.
