CAIRO – The Uganda Cranes will continue their preparations for the upcoming AFCON Qualifier against Tanzania with a buildup game against Egyptian outfit El Gaish SC on Wednesday.
Currently camping in Egypt, Uganda have held three training sessions already since arriving on Monday morning.
By the close of the day on Tuesday, only Farooq Miya had not arrived in camp but it is highly anticipated that he should be with the team by the kick of the first ball against El Gaish.
“On Wednesday, we will play a friendly in the afternoon, said Desabre after Tuesday’s evening session.
“It is totally a free friendly because it is against El Gaish and will help us assess some players’ fitness and continue to work on some principles in line with Sunday’s game against Tanzania.
Wednesday’s game will be the second build up game for the Cranes in four days.
Desabre’s side which featured only local based players defeated Kampala Select 4-0 at Lugogo on Saturday in a regional tour game.
With no injuries reported so far, Desabre and his technical team are expected to field a strong side against El Gaish and also make a host of changes in order to assess several players.
Uganda face Tanzania at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday in their last AFCON Qualifier.
The Cranes have already qualified for the Finals proper having gathered 13 points from their first 5 games.
For Tanzania, a win against Uganda will see them make the finals which will be held in Egypt in June, provided Lesotho does not beat Cape Verde in the other Group L game.
