LUGOGO – They Uganda Cranes will play their first build-up game before the AFCON qualifier away to Tanzania, against a Kampala Select side on Saturday.
The game which will be played at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo will feature only local based players who have been undergoing none residential training since Monday.
A total of 31 players including the two unattached professionals, Godfrey Walusimbi and Hassan Wasswa have gone through preps as they try to impress head coach Sebastien Desabre so as to be part of the 9 that will join the 15 foreign-based, on Sunday.
The Frenchman who will be announcing his final 9 hours after Saturday’s game, says he will use several aspects to select who gets onto the plane to Egypt.
“We play Kampala Region select with one major objective, to pick out the exceling nine players who will join the 15 foreign based players for the Egypt training camp where we expect to find. Said desabre ahead of the Tour game.
“I will consider form, fitness and the demand for particular players in particular departments.

The Frenchman is expected to field two different teams for the Kampala encounter as he takes a critical thesis at all the players. Some of the players he may have made a decision over will not get a run out.
The Cranes fly out of the country for Egypt on Sunday morning. They will have a five day training camp in Ismaily where they are also expected to play another trial match against a first Division club on Wednesday.
Uganda Cranes is preparing for the final group L qualifier against Tanzania that will be staged at the National Stadium in Dar es salam.
Uganda has already qualified for the AFCON finals in Egypt having gathered 13 points from 5 games already. They are also yet to concede a goal in the qualifiers.
