NJERU – Bul FC came from a goal down to defeat Mbarara City 3-1 at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru on Tuesday afternoon.
Makweth Wol got the scoring rolling on 24 minutes to put the visitors ahead.
Bul fought back, scoring thrice through Richard Wandyaka, Timothy Owori and substitute Douglas Owori to ensure they register a second victory in 5 games.
Mbarara finished the game with 10 men after Ronnie Kisekka was twice booked and given his marching orders by referee Razak Kasalirwe, a few minutes into the second half.
In the 62nd minute, BUL called for the opening change with Villa Oromochan paving way for another striker Hamis Tibita.
At the same time, Mbarara City also introduced Ivan Eyam for Jude Ssemugabi.
Derrick Onyai was the second change for the visitors, taking over the slot of Ibrahim Orit.
BUL optimally utilized the numerical advantage, taking full control of the game especially in the last quarter.
Owori could have added a fouth for Bul on 77 minutes but his shot hit the right-hand post.
With under 10 minutes to play, Mbarara City introduced forward Brian Aheebwa for their goal scorer Wol.
In the end, Bul took all three points of Mbarara who have now failed to win in any of their last 7 League games.
This was Bul’s first victory over the Ankole Lions in 90 minutes. Their only other triumph over Mbarara came via the penalty shoot-out, back in January
Victory for the Bul takes them into 6th with 43 points from 29 games.
For Mbarara, they remain 5th with the same number of points as Bul but with a superior goal difference.
This was the 11th victory for BUL who take on Vipers away from home, in thwir last game.
Mbarara City consequently suffered their 8th loss of the campaign.
