Nebbi Central vs Waiso Giants
Nebbi Grounds, Nebbi
Thursday, 18-04-2019 @4pm
NEBBI – Three games to the end of the season, Wakiso Giants are four points clear at the top of the FUFA Big League-Elgon Group.
The Purple Sharks who went on a massive recruitment spree, at the start of the season are nearing their dream of attaining promotion to the top tier at the first time of asking.
Not that it has been a bed of roses however, as the Money-Bags have endured testing times recently.
Going into the game away to Nebbi Central, Wakiso Giants have gone three games minus victory. In that period, they have drawn 0-0 against Kyetume, lost 2-0 away to UPDF and drew 1-1 with Light SS.
Despite the poor run of form that has seen Ibrahim Kirya’s side collect only 2 out of a possible 9 points, the others directly below then have done themselves no favours hence Wakiso still enjoying a four point lead at the top.
Two more victories and the dream is complete but they will need to forget about what has been happening in the recent past and concentrate on what lies ahead.
“The past is behind us, said Kirya ahead of Thursday’s game.
“We are in good condition and the players fired up and the target is to pick maximum points.
Hassan Wasswa Dazo is back from an injury that has kept him out of the past three games. Striker Norman Ogik, midfielder Yasin Mugume and goalie Yasin Mugabi are all ruled out due to respective injuries.

For Nebbi, they are entangled in a fight for their lives in the second tier.
At the start of the day, Nebbi sit bottom of the standings with 11 points from their first 16 games.
With only four matches to play, they know that they need to start accumulating points as soon as possible or face the drop.
Defeating Wakiso has been one of the hardest things to do in the Elgon Group as the Purple Sharks have lost only one game all season.
However, if Nebbi can pull it off, it could be the result that kick-starts their bid to fend off relegation.
Elsewhere in the Elgon Group, UPDF visit Kyetume FC at Nakisunga playground, in a game both want to win to keep pressure on Wakiso Giants.
The two sides are 3rd and 4th with 28 points each and victory for either side, will see the winner jump to second on the log.
The other two games in the group will see Light SS host Bukedea Town Council at the Amuria High School playgrounds while Kataka and Entebbe FC square off at CRO Sanisiro Grounds in Mbale.
In the Rwenzori Group, Dove FC host Water, Kansai Plascon are away to Ntinda United while Kireka United entertain Kiboga Young.
