NAGURU – Twelve time Rugby League winners Betway Kobs paid a visit to Naguru Remand home on Saturday in an effort to give the youthful inmates hope.
The Betway financed side who have firm roots in Naguru donated foodstuffs to the Juveniles on top of contributing to the home’s farming projects.
Speaking after the visit, Betway Kobs vice chairperson Isaac Lutwama Nsubuga said that the need to give back to the Naguru community, drove them to the Remand Home.
“Betway Kobs is part of the Naguru community and that will remain a fact, noted Nsubuga.
“Many of our players have grown up in the area and it only felt right to give back, first to Naguru amongst all places.”
“Our aim is to give hope to these kids, some of whom have been abandoned by their relatives so that they feel they have equal opportunities as everyone else.
“We are well aware that the Government hands out help to them but we feel it is not enough in the end,” he added.
Kobs handed out several foodstuffs to the Kids, including Rice, Sugar, Cooking Oil, Posho and Beans on top of financing their farming projects.
“We came here and realised the kids do some farming and that is why we have decided to make a contribution towards some of their projects. In future, we will continue checking on them to ensure all is well,” Nsubuga noted.
Mary Kyomugisha the Probation Officer at Naguru Remand Home expressed her delight to have Kobs thinking about the kids.
“It is always motivating knowing someone else has these these Kids in their thoughts,” said Kyomugisha.
Kobs didn’t only offer them food staffs, they are going to help construct a rabbit house as part of their rabbit farming project.

Kobs are currently running a ‘Give back to the community’ initiative and Naguru is the first to recognise the club’s generosity.
It is understood that they (Kobs) are targeting schools and hospitals in the future.
The Betway Kobs are part of the Rugby Premier League, Uganda’s elite Rugby club competition.
Since its inception in 1991, they have won 12 League titles with the last one the 2015/16 season.
