The Uganda Cranes that will take part in the 2019 COSAFA Cup have landed safely in South Africa.
A team of 20 players and 9 officials departed Entebbe, Uganda on Wednesday afternoon and landed in South Africa at around 7pm, Ugandan time.
Speaking before departure, the team’s head coach Abdallah Mubiru thanked the federation for the resources invested in them.
“I thank the federation for the time and money they have spent on us while in camp, said Mubiru.
“We have trained for two weeks and i feel it is more than sufficient time to prepare for a championship.
“The player have been very corporative and are ready represent the country. We are only praying to God to enable us attain success.

Mubiru is acting as a stand in coach for Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre who is in Abu Dhabi with another squad that is gearing up for the upcoming AFCON 2019 in Egypt.
The Police FC head coach along with Livingstone Mbabazi have been tasked with the job of leading the COSAFA Cranes.
It was learnt on Wednesday that Mubiru and his technical team have chosen Kirinya JSS’s Isaac Isinde to captain the side and he will be deputized by KCCA FC play maker Muzamir Mutyaba.
Mutyaba also spoke to the media before departure and had this to say;
“We are prepared after a lengthy period of time in camp.
“We have spent two weeks together and i am optimistic that the strategies that have been put forward by our coaches will help us attain success while in South Africa.
“We have not gone there to just participate but rather compete and ensure we bring the trophy home.
Uganda will start their COSAFA campaign at the quarter finals where rhey will take on Lesotho on Saturday, June the first at the Princess Magogo Stadiam in Durban.
