LUGOGO – Bernard Muwanga has had a troubled first year at KCCA FC and his misery is set to continue.
The former Bright Stars and SC Villa captain is one of 5 players that are set to be released by the reigning StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions.
Reports reaching PML Daily suggest that Muwanga and 4 others will be let go of by KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi after an average showing in the just concluded season.
Muwanga joined the Kasasiros from Villa last summer but a string of injuries and poor performances has seen him spend most of his time on the side-line.
With competition for places stiff, the center-back has been resigned to featuring in low profile games, most especially in the Uganda Cup, where KCCA FC were eliminated at the round of 32 by Tooro United.
Muwanga is joined on the list by Musa Esenu, Jamil Malyamungu, Muwadda Mawejje and Isaac Kirabira.
For Esenu, he was acquired in 2018 as a free agent from Vipers SC but has failed to break into the first team.
Kirabira who also signed from SC Villa on a three year contract in 2016, has been limited to only three league appearances which has led to his contract not being renewed.
It is understood that the 5 will be replaced by players from the Junior team who include Sadat Anaku, Kato Samuel and Hassan Juma among others.
Despite of the fact that KCCA will graduate players from the youth team, KCCA FC are also expected to make one or two summer purchases with Vipers’ Tadeo Lwanga, Paul Willa and Express vice-captain John Revita high on the list of potential summer buys.
