KAMPALA – On Thursday, 30th May, Mbarara City FC announced the signing of both midfielder Gadaffi Gadinho and defender Bashir Muweesi.
Gadaffi put pen to w two year deal while Muweesi signed a three year deal.
However, barely 24 hours after the Ankole Lions confirmed their capture of the duo, Katwe United has come out and claimed Muweesi is still their player and have never entered into any sort of agreement with Mbarara City over his transfer.
“We have noted with concern media indicating that Mbarara City FC this week, unvailed our defender Bashir Muweesi, as their new player reportedly after reaching an agreement with Katwe United FC, read the statement released to the media by Katwe United.
“We however want to explicitly state that Muweesi’s contract with Katwe United still has one and half years before it lapses in January 2020 and as for now, there is NO understanding with Mbarara City FC to see him cut short his contract and joining them. As a result, he is still our player.
“Katwe United has no problem with any player joining a club of his choice as long as he follows the prescribed transfer procedures.
After the news about Katwe’s claims fell into those at Mbarara, through their Public Relations Officer Saddam Mugarura, have come out and suggested that they are ready to compensate the Regional side and see the transfer go through.
“The law on the transfer of players is clear, said Mugarura.
“Muweesi is from the lower league and we are providing the platform.
“We are ready to give the compensation and life move on
With all that has transpired, we wait and see how both sides resolve the issue.
