ARUA – Wakiso Giants will play in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League next season after securing promotion last week.
However, there is still a small matter to take care of and that is completing their Big League season’s games.
On Thursday, they take on Dove All Stars at the Green Light Stadium, hoping to end the season a high.
Ever since the League started, Wakiso have been the team to beat and throughout the course of the season, they have lost only one game, winning a joint division most of 11 matches.
Going into the game against Dove All Stars, Wakiso will be out to make it 12 victories this season, regardless of the fact that they do not need to win after securing promotion last week.
“We go into every game with one target, to win and it won’t be any different tomorrow,” said Wakiso head coach Ibrahim Kirya ahead of the game.
“Their targets don’t concern us and they shouldn’t expect any favours from us.
Wakiso heads into the game without the injured Yasin Mugume and Yasin Mugabi. Norman Ojik played the game against Entebbe but still not fully fit while Hassan Wasswa Dazo, Hakim Ssenkumba, Muwadda Kateregga and Richard Kigozi Gazza did not make the trip.
For Dove All Stars, they are in desperate need of a big result that may see them reach the promotion playoffs.
The Arua based side are currently fourth on the standings with 31 points, three behind third placed UPDF who occupy the final playoff spot in the Elgon Group.
Also trailing UPDF by 4 goals in terms of goal difference, Dove All Stars need to win by at least four goals and pray UPDF losses their last game.
When the two side meet in the first leg, Wakiso and Dove All Stars drew 0-0 at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe.
In the other Elgon Group games to be played on Thursday, Nebbi Central hosts UPDF FC at the Nebbi Grounds while Kataka entertains Amuka Bright Stars at the CRO Grounds in Mbale
