Algeria vs Kenya

CAIRO – Algeria will begin their 2019 AFCON campaign this evening at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo when they lock horns with Kenya in a group C contest.
The Algerians are favourites to advance past group C judging by their previous performances in the competition, having taken part in 18 editions.
They are also 1990 continental champions and are currently ranked 68th in the world compared to Kenya’s 105th position.
The desert warriors also have a squad that comprises of European based stars that have always stood up to the occasion.
Man City’s Riyard Mahrez is fresh off from winning his second Premier league title after finding the net seven times in 27 league games. He will be looked at to lift up the Algerians.
Sofiane Feghouli ( Galatasaray), Islam Slimani ( Leicester City), Andy Delort ( Montpellier) and FC Porto’s Yacine Brahimi among others will also be expected to light up the desert warriors.
The Kenyans have never made it past the group stages and this is the 6th time they are taking part in the competition.

They will look up to inspirational captain Victor Wanyama who is pumped with incredible amounts of confidence after a successful season with Tottenham Hotspurs. Michael Olunga a Japanese based striker was instrumental during the qualification campaign alongside Ayub Masika Timbe ( Beijing Renhe) will be expected to replicate the form.
The two sides have previously met 7 times, each winning three and the other ending in a draw.
Sebastien Migne will be aiming at guiding the Harambee Stars past the group stages whereas Algeria’s Djamel Belmadi will be seeking for success in Egypt.
Senegal will take on Tanzania in the other group C game on Sunday evening.
