LUGOGO – City Oilers ensured they complete a regular season double over KIU Titans in one of the two FUBA NBL games played at MTN Arena on Friday evening.
The six time League defending champions who came into the game having defeated KIU 83-79 in the first game, were victorious once again, winning 67-52.
Jimmy Enabu who shot 6-11 from the field, top scored for Oilers with 17 points on the night. The Oilers captain also grabbed 7 rebounds and registered 5 assists in the game.
Despite taking the first 22-11, Oilers trailed early, conceding all the first 6 points on the night.
The second quarter ended all square at 11-11, seeing Oilers take an 11 point lead into half time.
KIU came out of the break firing and took the third 19-15 and in consequence, cut Oilers’ lead to 7, going into the final 10 minutes.
However, Oilers bashed aside any plans of KIU coming back, taking the third 19-11 and seal victory.
Landry Ndikumana (13), Tony Drileba (13) and Francis Ozolibe (11), were the other Oilers who joined Enabu in double figures in terms of scoring on the night.
Michael Bwanga threw down a team high 14 points for the Titans. He was the only Titan to reach double figures on the night. Substitute Chris Muge also impresssed with his 9 boards.
The result sees Oilers register their first victory of the second round and are now 9-3 in the regular season.
For KIU who suffered their 4th loss of the season, they now hold an 8-4 record.
In the Women’s game played on Friday, KCCA Leopards powered past A1 Challenge 87-78 in overtime.
KCCA started strongly, scoring the first points and taking the first quarter 16-9.
In the second, A1 came back the stronger of the two sides, taking it 23-16 and ensuring the scores are level at 32-32 going into the long break.
A1 continued their growth into the game, winning the third 17-16 and head into the last 10 minutes with a slender one point advantage with the score board reading 48-47.
However, KCCA turned the tables, taking the last quarter 27-26 and forcing overtime with the scores level at 74-74.

In overtime, KCCA put out a strong performance at both ends as they scored 13 points of their own and restricted A1 to just 4 to win the game 87-78.
Martha Soigi was the star of the show, registering a double double of 34 points and 17 rebounds. Sylvia Nakazibwe and Judith Nansobya joined Soigi in double figures in terms of scoring for KCCA, posting 15 and 14 points respectively.
For A1, they also had three players in double figures with Ruth Atuhire posting 20 points while Suzan Amito and Elizabeth Akol managed 17 and 14 respectively.
