Uganda senior Volleyball men team suffered a second consecutive loss at the ongoing Zone Five All African Games qualifiers held in Kenya.
It should be remembered that Uganda lost to hosts Kenya on Monday 3-2 in their opening fixture.
After losing to Kenya, Uganda failed to bounce back as they fell to a superior Egyptian side, in game played at the Kasarani Gymnasium.
The team under the guidance of Coach Nason Bwesigye and Andrew Okapis, lost 3-1 (25-17, 15-25, 25-14, and 25-20).
Having lost the first set, Uganda won the second 25-15 to tie the game 1-1 but the Egyptians reorganized to take the third 25-14 before sealing the deserved victory with a 25-20 in the fourth, despite Uganda leading 8-4 at some stage in the last set.
The defeat ended Uganda’s chances to qualify at the All Africa games.
The ongoing tourney in Kenya features only four teams – Kenya, Uganda, Egypt and Rwanda. Three countries, Tanzania, Sudan and Ethiopia pulled out.
On Wednesday, Uganda will face Rwanda and Egypt will play Kenya, in the last games.
The winners of the five Zones across the continent earn a ticket to the final event at the 12th Africa Games to be held from August 19-22 in Rabat, Morocco.
