URA FC have secured Media Officer Patrick ‘Pato’ Ochieng for one more year.
The former KCCA FC officer is understood to have signed a one-year-contract extension that will see him with the Tax Collectors until July 2020.
Ochieng joined URA in February this year after he resigned from the Media Officer role at KCCA FC.
He was initailly signed to a 6-month deal but after impressing, CEO Ivan Kakembo advised Ocheing is retained, something that URA have accepted.
In his brief spell at URA FC, the club has grown in terms of following especially on Social Media. It would be fair to say thet the Tax Collectors have been the ‘best Social Media’ club in the second half of the 2018/19 season and it is all thanks to Pato.
Unlike in the past, URA’s social media channels have been active and the club is now viewd in a more professional manner. They now own a YouTube channel where highlights of their games can be got.
Before Pato became their media officer, they club did not have a YouTube channel and Instagram page, a field in which the likes of Vipers and KCCA FC were thriving.
“I am so happy to extend my contract with URA FC. Noted Pato after signing his new deal with the Tax Collectors.
“I started so well and I am so proud of myself. I am home.
“URA has given me an opportunity to showcase what I can do best and I think I haven’t disappointed them either.
“I hope to stay here for as long as I can. More things are yet to come. I want to make URA FC the best football club in East Africa this year media wise. And so far I am on the right track. URA is home since its where I started before joining KCCA.
Media has become an important player in the football industry across the world and having an officer like Pato in their ranks, makes URA FC one of the biggest players in that field in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
