KIGALI – Uganda Cup holders Proline FC have been ejected from the CECAFA Kagame Cup after a 2-1 loss to Zambian side Green Eagles on Thursday afternoon.
Proline had to win this match in order to qualify for the next round but they were denied a chance to do so as striker Kennedy Musonda twice for Green Eagles.
The Zambians looked the better side and played with confidence whereas Proline looked lost and confused.
Musonda scored an early goal in the 12th minute and also at the beginning of the second half he added another one.
Minutes later, Hakim Kiwanuka scored a consolation but it wasn’t enough in the end.
Speaking to the press after the match, Proline head coach Shafic Bisaso said his team had learned a lot in the tournament despite an early elimination.
“We have identified mistakes we need to correct when we go back home so generally, we have learnt a lot from this tournament,” Bisaso said
APR and Green Eagles are teams that qualified for the next round while Somalia based side Heegan FC and Proline are out the tournament.
