Ugandan footballers are reaping big from the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Uganda Cranes put up a good show at the tournament, reaching the last 16 before losing 0-1 to Senegal.
Barely a month after the tournament ended, three players have already secured moves to the Egyptian top-flight.
Kahlid Aucho joined Misr Lel Makkasa SC, Abdu Lumala moved to Pyramids FC and Tadeo Lwanga sealed a lucrative transfer to Tanta Sports Club.
With all the above three starting to settle in, another is understood to be on the verge of joining them.
The player in question in KCCA FC forward Allan Kyambadde who is believed to be nearing a move to El Gouna FC.
According to reports, the 23-year-old midfielder is expected to sign for the El Gouna based side later this week.
Kyambadde has not been with KCCA FC to whom he was supposed to report back to after Uganda’s 4-1 victory over Somalia in the CHAN 2020 qualifiers last Saturday.
He was also not part of the Kasasiro team that departed for Namibia on Wednesday morning ahead of the Champions League first-round first-leg qualifier against African Stars FC on Saturday.
Kyambadde’s absence had raised suspicion that he may be on his way out of KCCA FC and it now emerges that he has been busy trying to complete a move to El Gouna.
KCCA FC secured his services from SC Villa last year and after a blistering 2018/19 campaign, Kyambadde has hit the top.
He was part of the Cranes team that was at AFCON 2019, featuring in all four of Uganda’s games.
In the opening 2-0 victory over DR Congo, Kyambadde came off the bench to replace Patrick Kaddu with 15 minutes to play before he came on for Mike Azira in the 61st minute of the 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe.
He was handed his first and only start at the finals against Egypt, playing 79 minutes before he was replaced by Kizito Luwaga.
In the round of 16 game, Kyambadde played the last 32 minutes of the loss to Senegal, replacing Kaddu.
If the move to El Gouna materializes, it will be Kyambadde’s first professional stint.
He kick-started his career at Express FC in 2012 before securing a move to Vipers SC in 2014.
After two seasons, he moved back to Express FC for the 2016/17 season.
Kyambadde then crossed over to rivals SC Villa and played for the Jogoos in the 2017/18 season after which, joined KCCA FC as a free agent in 2018.
With KCCA FC, he won the 2018/19 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) and also featured for the Kasasiros in the CAF Confederations cup 2019.

Kyambadde has featured in 18 senior Uganda Cranes matches since making his debut in 2014. He is however yet to find the back of the net.
