KAMPALA – Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC have confirmed the capture of forward Simon Serunkuma.
Serunkuma who has been a free agent after his contract with Tooro United expired last month, has signed a two-year deal that will see him at Lugogo until August 2021.
The deal was confirmed by KCCA FC on their official website.
“Simon Peter Serunkuma has signed for KCCA FC on a two-year deal from August 2019 to August 2021 on an undisclosed fee, read part of the post on KCCA FC’s website.
Serunkuma who has in the past been listed among the top talents in the country, spent only a single season at Tooro United, helping them to a top five finish last season.
However, despite effort by the Tooro United management, to extend his stay, the forward decided it was time to start a new chapter in his career.
He has previously featured for Victors FC, SC Villa, Express and Vipers. The player previously had a short stint with Tanzania giants Simba FC.
Speaking after signing with KCCA FC, Serunkuma expressed his delight to be joining the Kasasiros and emphasized that he has gone there to win trophies.
“I am delighted to join KCCA FC, said Serunkuma.
“The club has a rich history and an enviable way of doing things.
“Now that I am here, I want to win trophies with these players and I want to add on the success that I have found here.”
Serunkuma who was in his early years tipped for greatness but has somehow failed to reach the expected heights, also had something to say about KCCA FC’s head coach, Mike Mutebi.
“I spoke to the Manager before joining and he shared with me his philosophy and it is now my responsibility to take up any task given to me. I feel so ready. Added the new recruit.
After signing for Mutebi’s side, it was announced that Serunkuma will don the shirt 27.
In this offseason, he becomes the second major signing for KCCA FC after securing Erisa Ssekisambu from Gor Mahia.
KCCA FC’ first competitive game of the season will take place tomorrow (Tuesday) away to Wakiso Giants FC in the Pilsner Super 8, a match that Serunkuma is not expected to take part in.
Last season, the Kasasiros won the StarTimes Uganda Premier league, their third title in four years.
As a consequence, they will take part in the CAF Champions League 2019/2020.
