KAMPALA – StarTimes Uganda Premier league defending champions KCCA FC have signed striker John Odumegwu.
According to reports, Odemegwu has signed a three year deal at the Lugogo based side for whom he will feature until 2022.
The Nigerian international is understood to have been on KCCA’s radar for a while.
He was first scouted when Rivers United played KCCA FC in the CAF Champions League two years ago, losing 2-1 to the Kasasiros at Lugogo.
In that particular game, Odemegwu assisted Rivers United’s only goal.
Odemegwu who also previously featured for Warri Wolves comes in as a direct replacement for Patrick Kaddu.
Kaddu left KCCA FC at the start of this month, signing for Algerian side RS Barkane and in the process, leaving KCCA FC with only one recognized striker in Sadat Anaku.
Beside Rivers United and Warri Wolves, he has previously played for Ifeanyi Uba, Delta Force, and Plateau United.
Odemegwu becomes the fourth signing for KCCA FC this offseason, joining John Revita, Erisa Ssekisambu and Simon Sserunkuma.
He is also the second Nigeria to play for the club after Victor Akinyemi.
Despite Odemegwu’s capture, KCCA FC are also believed to be chasing the signature of Bright Stars’ captain Nelson Ssenkatuka.
KCCA FC start their 2019/20 StarTimes Uganda Premier league campaign on Saturday, September 31st, at home to Wakiso Giants FC.
