After several months of speculation, SC Villa have finally named a head coach.
Edward ‘Edwardo’ Kazibwe is the man that has been handed the task to usher the 16-time record league champions into the season.
Edwardo’s appointment was confirmed by SC Villa CEO David Serebe on Saturday;
“We appointed Edwardo Kaziba as the Sports Club Villa Head coach, said Serebe.
“Other details as regards the time span and all the support staff will be known early next week.”
Kazibwe is not new in the football circles as he is also the assistant coach of the Uganda Women’s National football team, the Crested Cranes and Mpindi Clan.
According to Kawowo Sports, Kazibwe was given the role after UPDF FC tactician Steven Bogere turned it down.
He fills the spot that fell vacant after the departure of Douglas Bamweyana at the back-end of last season.
Bamweyana who had initially replaced Moses Basena in the middle of last season was asked to step down by Technical Director William Nkemba in the wake of several poor results that left Villa fighting relegation.
However, the Jogoos managed to stay up and Edwardo has been handed the task of ensuring such a scenario does not happen again.
According to reports, Edwardo will be assisted by former Wakiso Giants head coach Ibrahim Kirya.
Kirya who was also once the head coach for the Jogoos has of recent been in charge of the team, conducting both training sessions and trails.
The back-room staff will also have Nestroy Kizito as the trainer and Philip Ssozi in charge of the youth team.
Edwardo and his technical team are expected to kick-start their duties this upcoming Monday.
Last season, SC Villa finished 12th with 34 points from 30 games.
