Wakiso Giants vs KCCA FC
Wakisha Resource Center, Wakiso
Tuesday, 06-08-2019 @4pm
LUGOGO – Wakiso Giants will take on KCCA FC on Tuesday afternoon, in the last game of the Super 8 first round.
With Vipers SC, Mbarara City and Onduparaka already in the last 4, the winner on Tuesday, will also seal their spot in the semis.
Wakiso will be hosting their first-ever competitive game at the Wakisha Resource Center after playing all their Big League home fixtures in Bugembe, last season.
The game against the Kasasiros offers Kefa Kisala’s side the first taste against the big boys of Ugandan football and would treasure a victory, that is if they can somehow grind out a victory.
For KCCA FC, they come into the game as defending champions having won the inaugural edition last year.
They are viewed as favourites to win it once again but with the Champions League around the corner, it remains to be seen which team Mike Mutebi will put out on Tuesday.
The team must be in high spirits after their morale-boosting triumph in the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2019 and knowing Mutebi-a perfectionist-that he is, he will be demanding for more from his players and anything short of victory will be a disaster in his eyes.

What the coaches are saying
Kefa Kisala, Wakiso Giants
“We are new in the tournament and playing against the defending champions.
“It is good that we are taking on such a good side because if you want to be good, you have to compete with the best.
“They are well organized and it is always good to play such sides, unlike those which will come and be intent on frustrating you.
“All in all, we are prepared and want to win the game.”
Mike Mutebi, KCCA FC
“We come into the game believing we have better players so we expect to get the job done.
“My players are very confident that they can beat any team at the moment.
“Of course, it is not going to be a walk in the park because they are going to compete.
“We want to win everything so we have to be at our best and defend this title.
“This will be a precursor for the champions league and I will play the best team that is available to me as we try to win the game.”
Team news
Wakiso Giants’ first-choice goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi returns from national duty and will be part of the team. Ayub Kisaliita is definitely ruled out due to a foot injury while left-back Aggrey Madoi is doubtful for the clash. The Purple Sharks are expected to hand out several debuts to most of their new players abut Geoffrey Sserunkuma who was signed on Monday is not expected to take part due to licensing issues.
For KCCA FC, they are still without longterm absentee Julius Poloto. Erisa Ssekisambu who was signed last week is expected to take part but his fellow summer signing Simon Serunkuma will not feature because of licensing issues.
Match Stats
This will be the first-ever competitive meeting between Wakiso Giants and KCCA FC.
However, the two sides met in a friendly game at the start of last season, drawing 1-1 at Lugogo.
KCCA FC have never lost a Pilsner Super 8 match, winning all their past three matches.
To qualify for the competition, the Kasasiro won the 2018/19 UPL while Wakiso finished second in the Big League.
